QUICK UPDATE

I had unexpected company yesterday about the time I sat down to write my blog post, so it didn’t get done. You didn’t miss much anyway, as I had spent the day in town with my mom and neighbor, exploring local tourist sites my mom had never been to while his car was in the shop. I was falling asleep on the way home, so took a nap instead of running. I got up from the nap and did a mile walk on the treadmill before taking mom to church for Wednesday night Bible study.

Wed Stats: Walked 1.0 mile in 15:49 min for a 3.8 mph pace.

Today, I was up at 4:45 in order to make it to daycare for the 6:30 shift. I was supposed to get off at 3:30, but didn’t get off until 4:00 due to having too many kids there for one teacher to have by herself. We had 14 three year olds and 2 four year olds today. Needless to say, it was a very hectic day.

After work, I went to the local Christian Book Store to buy a book my Sunday School class is going to be discussing over the next couple of months. I stopped and talked to mom for a few minutes and didn’t get home until 5:15. So much for liking the early shift because I get home early!

I changed clothes and went down to do my run for the day, on the treadmill. Way too hot to run outside. Today’s plan called for a short interval run. I felt I didn’t have time for the entire run, so used my walks as the warm up and cool down and then ran the intervals only. I ran 8 x (1 min at 6.0 mph/2 min at 4.2 mph) with a little added to the end at 4.2 mph. It was relatively easy, even though I’m not sure I could have kept up the 6.0 mph pace for a whole lot longer.

Stats: Walked 1.0 mile in 15:50 minutes for a 3.8 mph pace. Ran 2.0 miles in 25:08 minutes for a 12:34 min/mile (4.8 mph) pace. My average HR was 147 bpm with a max of 164 bpm.

I am working the 6:30 shift again tomorrow, so it will be another early morning. I hope I can get to bed before 10:00 tonight since, if plans go according to schedule, I’ll be playing tennis and won’t get my early afternoon nap tomorrow.

  1. Isn’t it funny how we rarely visit the touristy places in our local environments… When I lived near Washington DC, I only visited a few of the museums, sadly.

Nice pace — 6 mph is a bit faster than I’ve been running…. Nice job.
